Romantic couple with birdcage, finely painted on ivory, decorates this Victorian Italian snuff box. The painting shows a man giving a woman a birdcage with a blue bird inside. They are surrounded by a charming pastoral scene with several sheep. The painting is protected by the original beveled glass. The gilt bronze sides and bottom of the box are covered with different stylized decorations. The inside lid of the box is stamped "Made in Italy".
