Stunning and One-of-a kind: Woman smelling a flower surrounded by an embossed flower and leaf garland antique sterling silver Art Nouveau (1910) patch box. The lid has an embossed profile of a classic Gibson Girl, with a flower in her hair, surrounded by garlands of flowers and leaves. There is a textured "fingerprint" pattern on the top of the box. The front side of the box is decorated with a flower and leaf garland. Inside it has two hallmarks on the rim and a gold-wash inside. has a ring which allows it to be worn as a locket. It is 1.5 inches across, and the price includes 1/4 oz (8 ml) solid perfume of your choice. Patch boxes came into use during the 18th century at the court of Louis XV, where the use of "beauty patches" was popular. A beauty patch was made of gummed silk and was pasted on the skin as a "beauty mark" to emphasize a woman's facial feature, usually the cheek.
