Highly collectible S Cottle American antique sterling silver patch box from the late 1800's and bearing the famous Cottle silver marker's mark "SC" intertwined. Flowers, feathers and shells decorate this deeply embossed, beautifully made patch box. Almost "chiseled" embossed flowers and shells adorn the top and sides of the box. There is a central cartouche on top and it bears no monogram. The bottom of the box is covered with a deeply embossed feather pattern with a single flower in the center. Marked with the word "sterling" on the top rim. Inside the lid is a perfect mirror encircled with gold beading. and a gold wash inside. A tactile box of substantial and sumptuous gauge that feels good in the hand and closes with a satisfying snap. 1.75 inches across, and the price includes 1/4 oz (8 ml) solid perfume of your choice.
