The front, sides and bottom are decorated with many repoussé 3-leaf clovers with one very special 4-leaf clover on the lid. Around the sides of the case are three 4-leaf clovers and one on the bottom. Five 4-leaf clovers altogether! Like a treasure hunt, you have to look for them. Original beveled mirror in great condition encircled by charming gold raised dots pattern inside the lid. Measures 1.5 inches across, with gold vermeil wash inside. The price includes 1/4 oz (8 ml) solid perfume of your choice. Patch boxes came into use during the 18th century at the court of Louis XV, where the use of "beauty patches" was popular. A beauty patch was made of gummed silk and was pasted on the skin as a "beauty mark" to emphasize a woman's facial feature, usually the cheek.
