Illuminate your path with ancient wisdom: a gorgeous oracle deck with enchanting imagery from a 400-year-old book
I created this magical oracle deck from the Symbolorum et Emblematum of Joachim Camerarius, an emblem book originally published more than four centuries ago. Each card features a single emblem from Camerarius’s book: an allegorical engraving―hand-tinted in watercolor by me―together with a motto and a couplet illuminating the moral of the engraving. In a companion guidebook, I explore the layered meanings of each emblem, combining my own insights with the ancient wisdom compiled by Camerarius. Drawing on my expertise as a perfumer, I also suggest scent pairings for the emblems, for those who wish to deepen their divination with a multi-sensory experience.
The rich symbolism of these emblems―long-lost cousins of the tarot―take us back to an enchanted view of nature in which human lives were intertwined with plants and animals, the moon and the stars. Individually and in spreads, they will unlock wisdom to widen your understanding and guide you on your path.
This deck and guidebook is a companion to my book Symbolorum: The Secret Wisdom of Emblems, but the emblems it features are entirely different and have never been published in modern times. It is something completely new for the wisdom seeker.
